Bipac 8900AX-2400 2.52.d28

Post by billion_fan »

Attached is firmware 2.52.d28,

Release Notes -

1. Added Open VPN server support (dial into 8900AX-2400)
2. Added Open VPN Client support with Nord VPN (dial out to Nord VPN server)

Within the zip file there will be two guides,

1. Open VPN server setup guide with Android OS,

2. Open VPN Client guide with Nord VPN

If you are using the server option (so you are dialling into the 8900AX-2400) and you are using 'Dynamic DNS', once you have exported your ".ovpn" file, you can edit this file, and delete the IP address found at the top of the page and insert your 'Dynamic DNS' address

Traffic is routed through the 8900AX-2400 when using server mode (providing you with access to your local network and also when abroad and you need a UK IP address)

Leave your comments below, and as usual if the firmware is fine, we will release this firmware on our official website

I have my own post for another OpenVPN query and have also recorded this there:

I appear to have found a slight bug with the OpenVPN Client settings. OpenVPN Server Address appears to be restricted to 30 characters so swiss.privateinternetaccess.com has the 'm' truncated :-)

Have installed the firmware update, and am trying to use nordvpn / openvpn. UDP settings do not seem to work at all. Using the TCP .ovpn I have it working, but it has slowed my connection 15 fold, such that it is not really usable. I tried two different UK .ovpn files, both were the same.

Currently we only support TCP connections with Nord VPN.

The speeds will be slow as the router has to encrypt/decrypt all the packets for all clients.

Hey @billion_fan,

I've followed your instructions and setup a TCP VPN on my 8900AX. The VPN status shows it's connected and working. The only catch is there is no active internet once it's 'connected'.

Do you know of any other settings or issues I could have that are blocking the internet + openvpn?

Current firmware: 2.52.d41

Thanks in advance.

Try setting static DNS servers on the router to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (Advanced Setup >> DNS >> DNS)

Thank you kindly for your advice. That worked a charm :)

Hi is this still the case? Given the speed issues a bit of a dealbreaker.

Thanks
