Hi, does the billion 7800N have the facility to record the amount of data received (and sent) from/to the WAN? I've used various tools in the past to track our family usage (Networx, tbb meter etc) and they were fine for recording data sent/received to the 3 windows PC's but there are also 3 Android handsets feeding off the router and these tools can't pick up the Android usage.

I've glanced at the manual but couldn't see an obvious feature that would allow this. I'm going to go through it more thoroughly now. I've just move to Orange Home broadband so I've also sent them an email to see if they make the info available to me.

The only info I can find in the 'WAN statistics' page in the Status menu. It shows bytes rec'd and sent but, not surprisingly, the figure resets to zero when you process a restart.

You can also do this through the Task Manager but it also resets on each boot up, so you would have to manually keep a running total - at least, you wouldn't have to keep going into the router.

If you want to try this, then right click on the Task Bar > click on Task Manager > Networking > View > Select Columns then tick the boxes for Bytes Sent and Bytes Received > OK.

The data is displayed on the bottom to the right of the connections and is best viewed with the window expanded.

thanks Tomken, I was hoping for a more permanent record but it looks like it's going to be hard to keep a running total. Over the 1st 8 days I've been tracking the 'bytes received' column in the 'advanced>status>WAN stats' page but overnight the figure has reset and started again from zero. 'System up time' still shows as 8 days so the router didn't shut down. Maybe the bytes received column is not infinite and resets at a certain point.

I know routers have very little installed memory to retain stats but it's frustrating that the 7800N cannot provide more reporting on data throughput.

I would like to see download and upload totals for the current month and it would be easier to read if these were shown in MB or GB and not bytes on the WAN stats page. Doesn't have to be 100% accurate, data could be saved every hour and code required would be minimal.
