Don't know what to call this one

Following a Tosh HDD recovery on a new laptop, noticed there was only one adaptor in the Registry >> Profiles and one in the Unmanaged Signatures.
There are these entries in the Home Gateway which look like duplications but as I'm not sure, don't want to delete anything although I could always backup first.
Scrolling down, you will see what I mean about the adaptors in Profiles and Signatures.
In Network & Sharing the SSID is showing for both the LAN and Wireless.
Did a Factory reset via the pin hole, switched off router then deleted the adaptor in Network & Sharing as well as those in the Profiles and Signatures and started the router setup afresh, hoping two separate adaptors would be recreated.
After the initial config and prior to Jumping to Wireless, got the page relating to setting either for Public/Home. As this was for the LAN, set it to Public.
Went on to enter the wireless settings - Username, SSID etc and successful config, found nothing had changed except that now, the LAN which is still using the SSID, is showing as Public and when wired, the Ethernet light on the router remains on after the laptop is switched off. I guess this is because it's using the SSID instead of a LAN connection.
I can toggle the LAN to either Public or Home by clicking on it but not sure which is the best option for security purposes.
I did an ipconfig /release & renew which came with the message that an error had occurred, when releasing the Pseudo Loop Interface and that it could no longer find the file. Don't know what effect that is having as in the netsh/show all, it's showing as connected, I'm still online and can browse okay.
Any and all help/suggestions will be most welcome.
