7800N strange wifi behaviour with iPad 4

Post by PDilly »

I've just got into using Apple airdrop between my iPad 4, iPhone SE and iMac.

To cut long story short, I've tried all the fixes and nothing has cured my problem.
The nub is that whilst my iPhone and my wife' s iPhone and iPad Air 2 and our iMac all airdrop fine, my iPad 4 won't airdrop when connected to the 7800N but will when connected to the 3100SN AP which is connected to the 7800N router by LAN cable.

I've reset the 7800N to factory default, checked the DHCP table and all looks fine. There are no spurious entries. Wifi signal and download speed fine.

It's clearly not a global problem with the router since 4 out of five devices work spot on. The iPad 4 is the oldest though.

The mobile devices all roam between wifi AP's since SSID and passwords are the same.

It clearly a wifi problem since I moved every other device out of the study and it still wouldn't work until I switched the 7800N wireless off (Airdrop doesn't need net access just a wifi handshake)

Any thoughts welcome
