4G dongle - configuration needed?

Post by alanfleming »

I've just got a Sierra 320U (listed on the dongle compatibility pdf) from eBay, which I intended to use for failover resiliency on my 8800NLR2. It works fine in my laptop. But when put into the USB port of the router, it powers up but the data light flashes rather than going static, and the modem itself doesn't show up in the list of interfaces on the Configuration - WAN - Resilience page in the router.

Router firmware is 2.52d15.

Am I missing a step somewhere?

Many thanks,

Alan.

The Bipac 8800NL R2 USB port does not support 3G/4G dongles for WAN connections.

The USB port only supports print server/ hard drives

Is there any other way of getting failover resilience to 4G?

Not with the model you have unfortunately, the failover methods for your device is between EWAN or DSL
