8800AXL R2 looses IPV6 PD on Sky broadband

Post by zathred »

Since the D17 firmware was applied to my 8800AXL R2 it looses the IPV6 prefix delegation provided by the ISP which is Sky UK at around 00:30 every day. The RADVD process no longer sends out a valid prefix and all devices on the LAN loose IPV6 connectivity. This then causes delays and missing web content for example as the devices first try the old IPV6 route until this expires after several hours.

I've worked around this by creating a service on a Raspberry Pi that regularly pings an IPV6 address and if this fails it automatically logs into the 8800AXL R2 and sends the dhcp6c process a SIGHUP which causes it to successfully acquire a new IPV6 PD from Sky and update radvd accordingly.

Can Billion please look at this issue as it renders the IPV6 protocol unavailable for users unless they reboot the router each day which is both tedious and also risks a drop in line speed as DLM may reduce this due to the regular restarts.

Thanks
