8900AX-1600R2 - physically rotating antennae

Post by Pete B »

Hi
Just acquired an 8900AX-1600R2 with 3 antennae. The 2 outermost antennae are already mounted to the unit (the centre one is a straightforward screw on antenna). Can I rotate the 2 outermost antennae physically ? ... they seem incredibly tight, I don't want to break them ! ! I ask for 2 reasons 1. the pivots which allow them to angle through 90 degrees point towards each other, so if you do this, they both hit the central antenna ! and they need to be rotated to avoid this. 2. I have an older 7800DX which has 'identical looking' antennae, which rotate freely... so should they also rotate on the 8900 ?

thanks

Its the same antenna design for the DX, if you lay the 1600 R2 down (the 7800DX has the same restrictions)
(so not using the stand you will know what I mean, as the device is designed to be laid down/wall mounted and used with the stand)

Thank you for your help, I follow what you are saying. I have now safely rotated those antennae to more suitable positions. It's just that they really were so tight (compared to the 7800DX), I was concerned I was doing something wrong  Once I knew that they were the same system, I just used a lot of leverage and got away with it ;)
