Case B: Dial on demand disabled: Modem hangs on Connecting

I don't know if this will help your developers along, but it's an inconsistency I would point out to them. The hangup/dialup procedure for the modem should be identical in both cases.

Also, Network Name and Network Mode remain on N/A on f/w 2.52.d14_0323. This info shows up normally on the original f/w 2.52.d14, as well as on UK f/w 2.52.d12. Just thought I'd point that out also.

Cheers.

I finally had a chance to test the Huawei E3131 and I can confirm the situation is the same as with the E3251. Just to recap:

- The modem does not work at all with the original f/w 2.52.d14, UK f/w 2.52.d12, nor UK f/w 2.52.d6.
- The modem works with UK f/w 2.52.d14_0323 and UK f/w 2.50a.d15, albeit in Dial on demand mode only. It will connect only once in manual mode and will not reconnect once disconnected (see screenshots above).

This modem is on the offical compatibility list, so there should be no excuse for it not to be working on the latest firmware. I suspect that at least some of the modems on the list were tested before the faulty versions of the 2.52 firmware were released.

The presence of the mystery usb0 interface, not being able to add the 3G/4G LTE interface to the default gateway list, and the UPnP port map list not being accessible via File Explorer are additional changes since 2.50 firmware which I consider to be bugs.

Looks like the developers at Billion need to pull their heads out of the sand and get the basics right before offering up more advanced features. I for one don't have the time to play charade about these things and I suspect most other users don't either.

Cheers.

I'm offering up two updated revisions of the original firmware for testing purposes. Both continue to suffer from the conditions described in this thread:
  • Bad Default Gateway Interface List - confusing usb0 interface
  • Modem connection problem in non-Dial on demand mode
Still holding out hope for a fix.
Cheers.
