wirless networks my adaptor is shown

Post by sianzaa »

Problem with wireless network adaptor? I have a Belkin network adaptor linking to a BT Home Hub. When I view available wirless networks my adaptor is shown as an unsecured connection. How do I remove it?

Your BT Hub should be default set to WPA security unless you have some how connected to one of BT's fon hotspots which I don't think are secure, but have a read through this article to ensure the Hub is set to max security. http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/deta ... xabA%3D%3D

If by "Belkin network adapter" you are referring to a router, then you will find the wireless security settings when you have logged into the router.

If that is the wireless adapter that is installed in the computer then Open Network and Sharing Center from the WiFi icon and click on the Wireless connection - select Wireless Properties and under the Security tab use the drop down to select the level of security if it is showing as No Authentication (Open).

Select WPA2-Personal and AES in the lower box.

You can click on the WiFi icon in the system tray to determine if you are connected to the correct SSID as came with your documentation from BT, but for further advice, I would advise you to contact BT http://www.bt.com/includingyou/help-sup ... ntact.html or your ISP if different to BT.
