Billion BIPAC 8900X R2 v Billion BiPAC 8800NL R2

Post by davewarby »

I need a new router which is reasonably future proof and the wireless part is not required. Purely on the modem side of things which would be the best router on adsl on a long line (approx 4kms) and in the fututure for vdsl2 FTTC.

I dont mind paying extra for the 8900 if it has the benefits in these areas. I have been looking for chipset info but unable to find any info for these models.

I have tried a friends 8800nl but I am down about 10% download speed compared to my 7800 even tweaking the snr value the 8800nl but its not as good also it does not hang onto the line at low snr levels 3db like the 7800 does. In fact the 7800 will still synch at 1db which is exceptional.

Thanks
Dave
