Using a 7300n as a wireless to ethernet adapter

Post by alsoknownas »

I have a small NAS located in a outbuilding adjacent to our home for backups.
I have been using AV200 Homeplugs to connect it to our home network but due to the presence of RCD's in the outbuilding mains supply, the throughput is very poor at about 15 Mb/s.
I tried an experiment by backing up to my laptop located in the outbuilding using wireless from my excellent Billion 7800N and achieved about 4 times the speed of the Homeplugs.
I know that wired ethernet would be better but routing a cable would be a nightmare.
I have a spare Billion 7300N and I was wondering if this could be pressed into service as a wireless to ethernet adapter ?
If it could be can someone give me a step by step idiots guide to setting it up ?
Thanks in anticipation.

You should be able to use WDS.

Here is a link to the setup with a 7800N and 3100SN, it should be near off the same setup
