Billion 7402 VGP with Sipgate

Post by bilfen »

Hi

I am trying to set up a Billion 7402VGP with Sipgate VOIP, and have had some difficulty in getting the phone to show as online.
I have 2 extensions which will connect to different numbers on the same account - eg 01234 567 890 and 01234 567 891.
Sipgate inform me
"Setting for Phone Port 2, 'Registrar port' and 'Outbound Proxy Port' should both be 5060. [The same as Phone 1 - my comment]
You should also have setting somewhere in configuration for SIP port, that is what you will need to change if you do not want two phones conflicting."

I suspect that this might be a difference of terminology, as I cannot find anything called a SIP port on the Billion documentation.

I have previously had the account set up on a PAP2 where I had a SIP Port of 5060 for one phone and 5061 for the other, but that did not have Registrar Port and Outbound Proxy Port visible as configurable items. It also had provision for STUN server but that does not appear to be offered on the Billion7402.

Sipgate website has the following configuration advice for one device
SIP Number: the numeric portion of your sipgate SIP-Address, e.g. 5678901
SIP Local Port: 5060
SIP Server Address: sipgate.co.uk
SIP Server Port: 5060
REGISTER Server Address: sipgate.co.uk
REGISTER Server Port: 5060
SIP Service Domain: sipgate.co.uk
User ID: : your SIP ID
Password: your SIP-Password, found near the bottom of your sipgate My Account page (not the one you use to log in to the website!)
Send Caller ID: ticked

I think my difficulty is the difference between SIP server Port and SIP local Port.

I would be grateful for any assistance or suggestions - as you can see I am no SIP expert, but previous equipment has worked on configuring. Sipgate website has the following (default) configuration advice,

TIA

Change the SIP Local Port to 5160 for the first SIP Account and to 5260 for the second.

STUN is used for router NAT traversal - since the Billion is a router, it should be able to handle its own NAT.

"I have previously had the account set up on a PAP2 where I had a SIP Port of 5060 for one phone and 5061 for the other "

- If you decide to use the PAP2 again and want to connect it to the Bilion then use 5360 and 5460 for SIP Port.
- If you start using the PAP2 on another network then set the SIP Port further apart e,g, 5160 and 5260 again.
