Wifi throughput drops over time, appears capped

Post by stephenhau »

Hi all,

I hope you can suggest a solution for this problem with my wifi. Here are my Speedtest results from my iPhone over wifi:

Image

I've got a line sync of ~12Mb/s.

You can see that just after restoring the 7700 to default settings, I get ~10Mb/s over wifi, and then it drops to ~2-4Mb/s after that.

After installing the beta firmware from viewtopic.php?f=16&t=324, the 7700 gave me ~10Mb/s for an hour or so, but then dropped to ~5-6Mb/s.

I don't have the Speedtest results available for my laptop (Ubuntu 10.10, wireless N, no antivirus or other things that could affect speedtest), but the picture is the same – ~10Mb/s just after restoring to default but it soon drops.

BUT!… Using the same laptop on a wired ethernet connection gives a constant ~10Mb/s, before and after firmware upgrade.

To me, this suggests strongly that the 7700 is somehow capping its throughput after a while.

Any suggestions?
