My 7800DXL (Firmware 2.32d) is configured as a DNS and DHCP server with some IP addresses assigned via the 'Static IP Lease List'. This works fine for most machines. However one picks up its assigned static IP correctly, but then when I refer to the DHCP 'Leased Table' the host name field for that machine is blank. As a result, the host name is not stored in the DNS table, meaning that other machines on the network cannot access that server by name. This happens consistently for a the management network of a VMware ESXi server - it is set to autoconfigure via DHCP, and picks up the static address fine, but the host name is never shown in the DHCP Leased Table or accessible via DNS.
Any ideas what could cause this?

Have you created any static DNS entries? I had a similar issue, and had to create two entries, one just the hostname, and another FQDN e.g. Hostname.billion.router.

That works - thanks! Fairly obvious I suppose, but I didn't think of it since just adding entries in the lease list was sufficient for all the other machines.
