7800DXL, Port Forwarding, Windows Remote Desktop

Post by sfitzp4573 »

Hello

A while ago (Tue Apr 15, 2014 6:36 pm) you helped me out with setting up port forwarding for Windows Remote Desktop on a 7800n. That trusty device has now been replaced by a 7800DXL but I can't see any entries (in the Virtual Server config screen) for the correct values for server name and the protocol. I've tried searching the forums but the answer isn't obvious. Last time, for the 7800n, you posted a screenshot that showed me exactly what was required. Please can you give me some clues/pointers to look at? (A screenshot for the 7800DXL would be perfect!)

many thanks

Simon.

I managed to fix it myself - see attached screenshots.

It's still set up using Configuration / NAT / Virtual Servers, I set the Server Name to Custom Service, and set the value of Custom Service to Windows 2000 Terminal Services (I remembered that in Windows 2000 the Remote Desktop was known as Terminal Services). I then set the Server IP Address to the destination PC address.

The Internal and External Port Numbers and Protocols auto-populated themselves with the correct value, then I saved the config.

I then used RDP from my Windows 7 laptop (to access the main PC), to access the IP address of the Default Gateway / IPv4 Address as shown on the 7800DXL's Status page.

All was perfect.

So, I'm not needing a reply, thanks, but I thought that 'd post this update just in case anyone else could use the help.
