7800 DXL emergency mode

Post by se7008 »

Hi,

we had a brief power cut this afternoon and my 7800DXL will only power up into emergency mode, ie. the red power light is on and it gets no further.
This is the 2nd time this week the power has gone off, the other day I got the red light but after 20 seconds or so of switching the device off and back on it powered up correctly. Today, I'm stuck with the red light no matter how long I leave it off for between tries.

I notice that the cheap extension block it's plugged into has no surge protection ( ), could it be that the device is fried? We have fairly regular power outages being in a rural location.

thanks for any advice,
Simon.

Not sure what caused it, but you should be able to recover your device by following the attached steps

1. Turn off the device
2. Press and hold the reset button
3. While still holding the reset button, turn on the device
4. Keep hold of the reset button until the power light turns red
5. Connect a PC via Ethernet to any of the LAN ports, make sure the LAN card has a static IP assigned to it, in the range of 192.168.1.100
6. Open a web browser and navigate to the default IP address 192.168.1.254
7. Select a firmware image (Link attached which you will need to download and save onto your computer http://www.billion.uk.com/esupport/inde ... d-firmware)
8. Click on upgrade
9. Wait for the device to reboot and the 2.4ghz and 5ghz lights are lit on the front of the device
10. The device is now recovered

I hope this helps :D

Thank you billion_fan you're a star, it worked! I thought the router was only fit for the bin. Surge protector now purchased just in case.
