Friday morning at 10am i got into the office and the phones had gone down. I knew the router now played a crucial part in the new phone system but naturally blamed BT for this downtime. Also Billions have been so reliable for me in the past. Phoned BT and no faults reported in our area at all.
There was also no internet at all and yet the green internet light was still illuminated. Even with this illuminated i couldn't login to the router via the webpage (wired directly in) so I knew something wasn't right with the router itself as this was unusual during internet disconnections in my experience.
The Bt openreach modem was functioning fine too. I was able to reboot everything and get it all going again but today the phones and internet went down again so had to upgrade the firmware to see if that helped. It didn't and kept the dropping the connection even more frequently.
I now have to see how the 7800n get's on. If it also drops connection then i know its a problem with the network environment here. But somehow i doubt it because it's all been fine since May. But i also wanted to make sure the gui issue with the 7800n could be resolved first hence the other post. Each time it reboots the phone system also goes down which is a pain as you can imagine.
If you still have issues after the firmware upgrade (on the 7800DXL), try a reset back to factory default settings, (assuming you upgraded with current settings selected)
Something else to try (I know its a pain)
