8800 nl bridge mode problems with MAC and iPad

Post by radiomean »

Hi all,

I have a very peculiar problem with an 8800 in bridge mode for FTTC, and Mac computers.

I am using an 8800, setup in bridged FTTC mode and connected to a cisco 1941 router. The router supplies the user and password. The modem correctly connects, and computers connected to the router can access all web pages when they are connected by ethernet.

However, when a wireless ap is used, connected to the cisco router, windows pc are fine BUT my macbook and ipad can only access half or fewer of the web! When I use a standard OR Huawei HG 612 modem both pcs and mac devices access all the web!

I am wondering if it an mtu issue as I have seen similar problems before, but surely the router / modem in bridge mode does not have any influence on the mtu? As I say if I keep everything else the same but use the OR Huawei modem everything works fine.

I have also tested the 8800 in PPPoE mode and it connects fine. I have also setup the 8800 in bridged mode and connected fine with a laptop...

So the problem is something to with the 8800 as this is the only thing that is changed.

The firmware is the latest version 2.32, and the modem syncs and runs at 69 Megs as opposed to 59 megs with the OR modem, so it is well worth trying to use it.

Any thoughts appreciated ...

If you put the 8800nl in routing mode, (so one box solution in pppoe mode) and connect your macbook and ipad to the wireless on the 8800nL, does the same issue occur??
