Sky broadband issues
Hi.
I bought a billion 7800n after doing a lot of research on the best router to swap in place of the crapy sky sr102 router.
I've managed to get my username and password off the sky router and I've set up my billion router as per the instructions found online.
It works for 5 mins then doesn't work at all. Even if i unplug it and plug it in it never seems to work with my sky broadband.
I'm thinking about getting rid of the billion router and sticking to the sky modem as I'm starting to think that I cannot use anything else.
Please someone help...

Are you using Sky ADSL??
What setup method did you use, eg MPOA, PPPOA etc?

Yes I am using sky adsl. I've tried setting up with both settings and to no avail will it work.

1. Login to the device
2. Click on 'WAN' on the left hand side (Basic) menu
3. Set the 'Main Port' to 'ADSL'
4. Set the protocol to 'PPPOA' VPI/VCI 0/38
5. Enter your sky username and password in the sections provided eg username@skydsl
6. Click on 'Apply'
7. Let the device save and reboot, (which is a must)
8. If you still don't have a internet connection click on 'Status'
9. In the middle of the page under ' Connection ' what does it state??

I've now got it working however the vpi/vci is 0/38 not 0/30, would this cause any real issues?

Anyone else having issues with Sky Broadband (regular ol ADSL) for the last few weeks?
My trusty 7800N has had a solid connection for literally over a year, but recently the connection drops out about once a day and the only way I can restore it is by restarting the router. The drop-outs don't seem to be related to activity (indeed, I sometimes come from work to find the connection has dropped out, even though it's not been used at all).
I've updated my firmware to 1.06h.dt2 but it's had no effect.

Either way if the device has been fine for over a year I don't think the router will be the problem, maybe you can swap the 7800N for a Sky provided modem/router and see if the same issue occurs, if it does, then you will have to contact Sky and report the fault

Just wanted to add that I've started experiencing the same thing since the 13th September with my 7800 (1.06h). PPP connection drops every 24-48 hours:

This means the router is sending config requests to the exchange but there is no reply for the config request requests.
You need to ask your ISP to investigate the LCP time out issue (normally they can adjust the LCP timing)
