Policy Based Routing?

Hi,

I am trying to simplify my Policy based routing as there seems to be a limit of 8 rules.

I see you can create a rule based on the source IP address, but is there a way to do it for a range of IP addresses?

192.168.1.10 - 100

Or using custom subnet masking say 192.168.1.65/26 to affect .65 to .126?

Try following the attached screen shot, with this rule in place IP address range of 192.168.2.64 ~ 192.168.2.127 will be routed through the 4G dongle, also for this example devices are connected to port 1. (the lan port can be changed to what ever the devices connect to eg guest network)

Just added a second DSL line as well as a 4G dongle... It starting to get more complicated! LOL.... Trying to rethink to simplify life for management going forward.

I tried to add the rule with the /26, but always get :-

"Error
Unable to add rule."

my network is actually 192.168.13.x/24

I get the error if I try to add the rule 192.168.13.1/26 ... if i tried to follow your exact example of 192.168.13.65/26 i cannot put the 6 in ...so the source IP address ends up like "192.168.13.65/2"

I have tried with just a single IP address and that works fine ...just not the custom subnet mask ... I even tried 192.168.13.1/24 ... but still get the "Error Unable to add rule."

I have tried the USB interface and the PPPoE interface same error.

I am running an 8800AXL Software Version 2.32e

The only option is change the start range eg 192.168.13.1/26 (this way it should allow you enter enough digits, or 192.168.13.9/26)

Changing it to 192.168.13.1/24 would send the entire subnet via that route ... I only want a number of hosts to route via a specific route.

BUT

for the sake of troubleshooting, I tried it and it still gives me the same error "Error Unable to add rule."

Can you think of any other options?

I have three internet connections, ADSL2+, Fibre (PPPoE via Eth WAN Port) and USB 4G

USB 4G is for fall back... not main routing

so I need to send some hosts via Fibre and Some hosts via ADSL

Why? you might ask? - I don't have a great connection so have added another line, Fibre... which is actually half the speed of the ADSL2+ connection (go figure!) so I am trying to offload all the hosts that need connectivity down the slowest one freeing up the faster connection for regular browsing.

/24 was a typo lol (I will adjust my post)

just so used to typing /24 .... easy typo to make

well this is REALLY weird ... I cannot get anything other than an error when trying to add a "/26" to the end of an IP address

The only thing that was different I was trying was not adding a port ... just trying to do it via IP ... which works fine for a single IP address.

but I tried it with the port and still get the error.

right I will try deleting all the rules and start again to see if that works

printed off my rules and deleted them all.... added exactly the same as I have been trying and it the rule was added!

now to test!

seems to be working well, must have been a corrupt rule or something.

other thing that is odd.... the web interface on the 8800AXL always seemed slower than the 7800DXL I had previously ... but since deleting all those rules and replacing them with a simpler set .... the GUI seems nippier, which is good.

do you find there is any different in speed of the GUIs on the routers?
