2.32e Help with email sending on WAN IP change

Post by sabre999uk »

Hi,
On a Billion 7800DX does anyone know what settings I need in System>Mail Alert to send a email when WAN IP changes using my gmail account? When I try sending a test email, I get:
Sender's E-mail : (my gmail address)
email: FATAL: Smtp error: 334 UGFzc3dvcmQ6
534-5.7.14
534-5.7.14 9jjeMail: FATAL: Send Fail

Also is there a guide anywhere to setting up a IPSEC Lan-to-Lan VPN using 2 Billion 7800DX with 2.32e firmware please.

Thanks in advance.
Steve

Edit: If I turn on 'Allow less secure apps' in my account settings in Gmail it works fine but I don't really want to leave it set like that.

Have a look at the following thread (its for the 8800 series but the setup is the same and users are using gmail)

Hi,
I did look at that thread before posting, I have the following settings:
Wan Port - DSL
SMTP server smtp.gmail.com
Username (my gmail username)
Password (my gmail password)
Sender's email: (redacted) Note: As this is the address the test is sent to should it be recipient email?
SSL/TLS: Enabled
Port: 587
Failover/Fallback email: blank
WAN IP Change alert email: (redacted)
3G/LTE useage allowance: blank
Sim Lost email: blank

Works fine if I log into gmail and turn on 'Allow less secure apps' in 'My Account' but gives the message I posted and fails with it turned off, as I'd rather have it switched off where am I going wrong?

Thanks
Steve

Its something to do with google security, I would setup a another gmail account and use that for mail alert only with ''Allow less secure apps' turned on. (the only option I'm afraid)

Hi,
Ok I'll do that, with reference to my query about lan-to-lan vpn I've found a guide on the Billion Australia that appears to provide what I need.

Thanks.

I was waiting for admin (hes busy at the moment) so I can grab some screen captures for you (I need access to his router as he has a tunnel already setup) but not to worry :D
