Recently bought the 7800N and have tried setting up QoS.
Setting up is easy enough but I then noticed that my download throughput had dropped by about 1.5meg. I had set some other things up so I progressively reversed those changes but no improvement until I deleted the QoS settings.
Is this sort of impact to be expected or have I perhaps done something wrong?

Hi tinytim
Can you post a screen capture of your QOS settings, so can I check them.

Re: 7800N and QoS
I've just added a rule exactly as I did before. This is for my PC's , there would be another rule for my recorders (SkyHD etc) which would be low priority.

Re: 7800N and QoS
I have just tested your setup and got the same result.
I assume this is QOS working and giving me high bandwidth not ALL bandwidth. So what ever bandwidth is left over is for light web browsing etc for other devices.
If you want your device to have access to all the bandwidth, do not add its IP in the QOS rule.

Re: 7800N and QoS
It seems that if there's ANY rule then not all the bandwidth is available. Even if it's disabled because of using timeslots.
At least with my Netgear QoS has no noticeable impact on throughput.
