8800nl inbound filtering

Post by Bigdunc1999 »

Hi

I'm looking to buy the 8800nl but I just need to ask a question first. Can I set rules in the router to only allow RDP access from specific external IP addresses?

Cheers

Yes you can, you use the Virtual Server section to first port forward to the device (open the port the devices IP)

Then you can either setup Exceptional Rule Group which will only allow the IP address to access this port steps below

1. Exceptional Rule Group, edit group 1, enter the IP address/range you want to allow, set the 'Default Action' to block, then under 'Virtual Server' tag the 'Exceptional Rule Group 1' to the virtual server rule

Or you can use the "IP Filtering Outgoing" to block all ports or only your RDP ports, and then allow the port with the external WAN entered, screen shot example attached (for this example I used port 443, the drop rule has be below the allow rule, so the drop rules, drops the connection on port 443 and then allow rule only allows the external WAN IP entered to access the port)
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

This post is about inbound filtering but you have shown the outgoing IP filter screen.
The incoming screen doesn't have the 'action' field

You must use the outbound filtering section as inbound only allow in, outbound allows action drop

Try it, it works
