8800AXL R2 - Wifi Devices Don't see the internet
I have had the 8800AXL R2 for a couple of months and have a persistent problem with all of the phones, lpatops etc in the house
Very sporadic connection, often drops but can stay good for a few hours
Wifi on device can appear connected (internet access) but just as often it's the yellow triangle of doom
Plugging a laptop in via cat5 and it connects
I've tried all of the changes I could find recommend around the web
- putting in (and taking out) fixed DNS in laptop, phones and the router
- turned off 5g
- fixed wifi to ch 11
- extended the DHCP Address range
it's running near vanilla at the moment but this problem is driving me mad (I work from home often)

I've been looking for the firmware on the billion site but can only find the one for the 8800AXL
mine is an 8800AXL R2, the illustration on the site looks quite different and the front page of the manuals for the two models likewise
as it's firmware I didn't want to turn my router into a brick, where can I find the right download?

Re: 8800AXL R2 - Wifi Devices Don't see the internet
thanks billion_fan
I upgraded the firmware and have given things a couple of days to settle, I had to move the ip address to 192.168.1.1 for my wired clients to connect (which was the case before the upgrade) but otherwise standard config
it seems marginally more stable, I'm using 5g wireless which seems slightly better (signal strength a bit rubbish though) but the underlying problem remains
the laptop connects, it may or may not indicate 'internet access' but simply won't even hit google via Ffx/Chrome/IE
several reboots may eventually achieve a connection, and when I get a connection it will work for a couple of hours or so

When the issue occurs on the 2.4ghz band are you able to access the router web configuration page?? (meaning a local connectivity test)johnnyregggae wrote: ↑Thu Jun 28, 2018 3:56 pm thanks billion_fan

How many clients are connecting to the 2.4ghz band??
Also make sure the bandwidth for the 2.4ghz band is set to 20mhz
Also if your devices are on a static IP, try setting them to DHCP

yes, I can access the router web page - although an odd thing happens from time to time, I get a D-Link Router config page
number of clients, no more than half a dozen, all experience the same difficulty accessing the internet
bandwidth 20Mhz on 3g, 80Mhz on 5g
all devices are set to automatic IP & DNS
not sure what you mean by 'setting devices to DHCP' though

Are you running a D-Link router, if you get a D-link page sometimes, it might be a IP conflictjohnnyregggae wrote: ↑Thu Jun 28, 2018 11:30 pm yes, I can access the router web page - although an odd thing happens from time to time, I get a D-Link Router config page
