Hi,
Trying to use the Billion 8800nl R2 on a ADSL2+ connection in France with an ISP called Free.fr.
I'd like to use the Billion as a Modem only and a UniFi USG as the Firewall/Router.
The settings provided by the ISP are as follows.
"In unbundled areas:
Protocol: RFC 1483-2684 Bridged / routed IP over ATM
VC MUX (VPI / VCI): 8/36
In unbundled areas with the RFC 1483-2684 Bridged / routed IP over ATM protocol, no username and password is required."
(I also have a static IP address)
I beleive this corresponds with IPoA VC-Mux on the 8800nl.
Should I setup the billion in bridged or setup the IPoA connection to get this to work with my own router (the UniFi USG)? The USG only has three options for its connection Static IP, DCHP or PPPOE.
Thanks for your help.

The best option would be Bridging mode, to avoid double NAT

Ok thanks.
Can't get that to work.
When they say Protocol: "RFC 1483-2684 Bridged / routed IP over ATM" for the 8800nl is that IPoA or IP over Ethernet?
Cheers

Re: 8800nl R2 IPoA modem mode
I have limited information on this protocol, as within the UK we don't use ''RFC 1483-2684 Bridged / routed IP over ATM"
But from looking around on the internet it should IPOA, I would first try getting the 8800NL R2 working normal router mode first and then take it from there.
