Need to use my 7800n as pure bridge I think

Post by Stephen1964 »

Hi new to forum problem solving
Apologies in advance of etiquette faux pas!!!

Recently got TalkTalk tv.....
Signal (Wifi) in second bedroom quite weak...
As I have to use TalkTalk router for tv package can I use 7800n via Ethernet cable to 'bridge' the signal... :?:
Thanks in advance

If your talktalk router supports WDS then you should be able to link both devices via a wireless connection

Wired Solution

Use the 7800N in EWAN mode for a wired connection, then DMZ the IP address the Billion acquires from your talktalk router (WAN IP shown on the 'Status' page of the router, also make sure the routers are on different IP address eg 192.168.1.254 = 7800n, 192.168.2.254 = talktalk router

Or

Turn off the DHCP server on the 7800N, plug a ethernet connection from your talk talk router to your 7800n lan port either 1-4, that should be it, your talk talk will be the DHCP server ( don't forget to make sure the IP addresses of both router don't clash, to ensure you don't get IP conflicts)
