port forwarding problem 7800dxl

Post by glynn6 »

I am trying to access vnc by forwarding port 5900 in virtual server as requested by vnc but its a no go just says

Connection test failed.

Your server appears to be behind a NAT router with IP address ***.***.***.113.
You will need to configure that router to forward port 5900 to this computer before you will be able to connect to your server over the Internet.

Any ideas as it doesn't seem to work using DMZ either.

Firmware 2.31 RC4.3

Thanks

Works OK in mine. Have you set the Start & End External Port (5900 for both), the Internal Port (5900) and also the IP address of the PC you want to forward it to, eg 192.168.1.xx Don't forget to 'Apply'!

Have you checked the gateway address on your device to make sure it points to the routers IP address?

Yes the PC is hardwired into the router. I am using an ipad with vnc viewer on, which is connected to same network.

Its working now i changed the password to vnc then it said it would make changes to firewall which it didn't do before now all is working. I didn't think changing the router would effect the firewall settings. Thanks all for help, it was a PC setting problem not the router.
