Hi All, I'm new to the forum and a total newbie to all this SNR stuff. needless to say i dont really understand any of this, but I am wondering if i can get more out of my connection. The numbers being presented to me by my 7800DXL and BT seem to suggest I can...
7800DXL
Down UP
Line Coding (Trellis) On On
SNR Margin (dB) 3.9 22.0
Attenuation (dB) 46.5 29.0
Output Power (dBm) 19.9 12.1
Attainable Rate (Kbps) 6252 1064
Rate (Kbps) 5600 448
And from the BT linetest...
Download speed achieved during the test was - 3.76 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 2 Mbps-7.15 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 4.94 Mbps
Should I be able to get a download rate closer to 4.94 Mbps??
Many thanks in advance
Worth Tweaking SNR on this line?

Re: Worth Tweaking SNR on this line?
I wouldn't bother as at 3.9dB your SNR margin is fairly low & going lower could (most probably would) give you instability issues.
For your attenuation you're syncing a little higher than one would expect for the type of connection you have (ADSL Max), so I think you're on the limit really. Also with the BT profiling system you're unlikely to hold any speed increases gained by tweaking for very long.
