ref 2.4Ghz channel ~ not all channels listed???

Post by Searcher22 »

Hi All

I have realised that the range of Channels under the 2.4 frequency runs from 5 to 13, what has happened to 1 to 4 ??? Clicking the "scan channels in use" reveals the various nearby channels in use and number 1 is very low in count compared to the others.

So though the manual says 1 upwards is in the range why are those noted above missing??? Ideally I would like to have use of 1 as that was the one I selected on my old Netgear.................if it was available that may help a wireless printer problem I am having :(

With the Netgear a print request would wake the printer from standby and more importantly 'low power sleep' but now this latter function does not happen. FWIW I did update the firmware on the printer whilst configuring the 7800DXL but it is unclear if that caused the problem because there are various old Google refs to such happening i.e. pre dating the newest firmware........................so possibly the printer is fussy as to what channel it is listening to/responsive to when in low power sleep.

So a good starting point would be, if possible, have access to channel 1 :D

Ah! the devil in the details :) 8-) Many thanks for that..............certainly would never have guessed it !

Yes, lower sideband gives 1 through 9 and Upper 5 through 13.

Off to try it out :?:

Hi

Channel 1 selected and tested for waking up the printer and no better than before, so though I updated the firmware it seems to have introduced an issue that I did not previously have but was reported in regard to HP wireless printers some time back ~ such is life
