Help needed Opening port or dmz for xbox

Post by aweegin »

Hi, I'm new to Billion, 7800dxl..after 7 years of netgear I'm finding it hard to set up..

Ok, I have an xbox one, connects fine opened port 3074 as per usual, it's ip also gets picked up by uPnP
On a separate ip I have a 360..it gets the strict NAT error..I try to add the 3074 but get 'rule already exists' error, so I can't open the port for the separate ip. This ip does not get picked up on uPnP, even tho it connects fine (bar the NAT error). I'd happily add both consoles to the DMZ but can't see any way to add both IPs
Um, I've set a up an Exceptional rule that covers both IPs and added it to the 3074 rule..but I don't really understand what I'm doing tbh.. When the Allow button is used..the rule shows Block..et vice versa.. Confusing.

As a router, I love it..just finding it a brain ache after Netgears point n shoot attitude haha

I have more questions but let's start with this one.. :)

Ok, I read somewhere that this model only allows port forward to 1 ip, so that may be blocking the other, and should let uPnP do it's thing..so will delete the rules and try it, also deleting said exceptional rule.

Btw, using firmware c.

Edit.. I gave both consoles a static ip, if that matters..

Try letting your xbox one, use UPNP, so no port forwarding rules, then put your xbox 360 into the DMZ, should be fine

Hi, thanks. Worked a charm. Curiously though, if I save the setting manually on the 360 it gets the NAT error..set them automatically, all is fine.

Is it cool to ask another question here or make a new thread?

Question is..

SNR, the big reason this router interested me..as I'm a long line adsl user, maybe 2 miles from the exchange, if not more. I altered my SNR to 3, yet it doesn't seem to change in the xDSL stats.. DOWN hangs around 23 UP fluctuates around 6, last night I saw it drop to 4.9.

Is this how works?

This means the ISP is overriding your SNR tweak, you might want to ask your ISP for more information (see if they can lower the SNR for you, or disable the cap on the SNR)

Lovely, thank you for your fast, helpful responses. I have emailed my isp, nothing ventured, nothing gained :D
