Huawei E5776 Mifi and 4g

Post by markdoch »

Hi,

I have a 7800DXL and a Huawei E5776 4g mifi connected via USB. I cannot seem to figure out how to configure the router to use my 4g data. Is there anything specifically that I need to do, for example does the 7800DXL need to be in bridge mode? Do I need to disable DHCP on the Mifi?

Really confused right now...

By the way I have an EE data sim card in the Huawei and have connected to it via wifi and it connects to the internet fine, so it must be something on the configuration side. Also worth noting I have installed the latest 7800DXL firmware and the Huawei has it's latest firmware.

Thanks for any help!

The E5776 is not supported by the 7800 series

Hi,

I resolved the issue by updating the firmware on my E5776 using the following guide:

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I am having similar difficulties with my E5776 and 7800DXL. I have updated the firmware of both devices (as suggested in the earlier reply), and the Billion is running the 2.32d firmware.

I have the E5776 running a Three.co.uk mobile broadband SIM.

When connecting the two together, it recognises the Three SIM and shows that the connection is "Up", but when I try to load a webpage nothing happens.

The APN is set at three.co.uk, and the username and password are left blank.

Do I need to configure the E5776 in any way, or are there specific WAN settings on the router that need to be invoked?

Thanks in advance,

Dominic

Try changing the LAN IP address of the router (Found under 'Configuration >> LAN'), as the E5776 has a web management page like the L800, then you will need to be on a differnet IP address eg 192.168.2.254, the E5776 has the IP address 192.168.1.1.

On the 3G WAN profile page, you don't need to enter the APN/Username/Password as the router will follow the dongle settings. Set the 'Mode' to 'Use 3G/LTE dongle settings' and click on 'Apply' once the LAN IP is changed.

Hi,

I am on the 3 network as well and am successfully using the following settings:
APN: three.co.uk
Username: guest
Password: guest

Hopefully this will resolve your issue.

Hi,

Can you just clarify the situation with the Huawei E5776 on the 7800 (7800DXL), as you've said it's not supported but it is in the list that you've linked to (just above the Telstra ones in the list)

Thanks,

If you 3G/4G dongle is listed on our compatibility list, it should be compatible.
