Is this WAN/LAN configuration possible?

Post by navdude »

Can anyone offer any advice whether it is possible to configure a 7800DXL for the following:

1) group the DSL and and P1 LAN port, so this can be connect to a load balancing router as a WAN port
2) Connect a LAN port from load balancing router into the 7800DXL on P2 and group this with 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz interfaces.

Fundamentally I want to split the in 7800DXL in two, so I can use one half as a DSL modem and Ethernet port and the other half as a wireless AP to a LAN.

I hope that makes sense to somebody, I've tried grouping ports/wireless interfaces and turning on the group isolation but when I connect the load-balanced router's WAN and LAN ports to the grouped ports on the 7800DXL it doesn't work.

Cheers

You can try and group the ADSL connection to port 1. (using 'Interface Grouping') then create another WAN, 'WAN Port >> Ethernet >> IP Over Ethenet' and plug your load balancing router to port 4, then create another 'Interface Grouping' and map the 'Grouped WAN Interfaces' 'ipoe_eth' to wireless networks and the remaining LAN ports. (Grouped LAN Interfaces)

I have never tried this by the way :D
