Unable to connect to SKY fibre

Post by gmorgan »

I've got my details, put them in the option 61, tried mac spoofing, tried putting the serial details in option 60. Tried a load of things and it will not attenticate at all. :(

What firmware are you on??

Can post a screen capture of the missing attenuation readings?

I've attached a screenshot of the missing attenuation figures.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3ba4r ... sp=sharing

It also shows as zero via the telnet interface.

Code: Select all

xdslctl: ADSL driver and PHY status
Status: Showtime
Last Retrain Reason: 1
Last initialization procedure status: 0
Max: Upstream rate = 16384 Kbps, Downstream rate = 51684 Kbps
Bearer: 0, Upstream rate = 15844 Kbps, Downstream rate = 53583 Kbps

Link Power State: L0
Mode: VDSL2 Annex B
VDSL2 Profile: Profile 17a
TPS-TC: PTM Mode
Trellis: U:ON /D:ON
Line Status: No Defect
Training Status: Showtime
                Down Up
SNR (dB): 5.9 6.5
Attn(dB): 0.0 0.0
Pwr(dBm): 12.9 6.8
I have heard there is a bug in the Broadcom chipset that causes the upstream attenuation to be returned as 0.0 in VDSL2 mode but I'm not sure if there is any truth behind it.

My one is also showing the same, I am expecting a new firmware soon, I will test that and if needed have a discussion with our engineers about the missing attenuation figures.

I'll drop a update here once I get the new firmware with my test results

I'm a bit late, only now got in, but here's mine. Also how do I get the attainable rate?

I'll investigate once I get the new firmware, but it might be a Broadcom chipset issue, so I will have to discuss this further with our engineers

It looks like DLM has decided your line has some noise on judging by interleaved depth of 1063 which is quite high. Interleaving reduces the sync speed to stabilise the line.

There's a software package called dslstats which allows you to monitor the stats from the router and also can produce quiet line (QLN) and attenuation (Hlog) graphs which can be useful for spotting problems. It very easy to set up because it has a number of preset configurations for various routers. The preset configuration for the Billion 7800N works just fine with the 8800NL.

I've used dslstats before. This router is connecting better than the Sky sr102 by about 2mb. Since the temperatures started increasing in April my line has really decreased I had 68 down and overnight went to 53. :( I've always had good experiences with Billion routers, so I hoping maybe DLM will kick the line back up again....
