I may be way off the mark, but don't you need to add the MAC address of the Alfa adapter in the WDS service on the 7800N?

Advanced > Configuration > Wireless > Enable WDS Service

and then add the router MAC address to the Alfa

Hi i really do not know and thats why i am here to find the answer lol, but seeing as i didnt have to put anything in this setting when using the laptops own wifi i can not see the need to enter anything for the GSKY (same as Alfa), i really do not know, is it usual to add to these settings when changing to a different adapter.
Thanks

No you don't need to add WDS, this is for a wireless link between another AP or router.

Are all other devices working fine with security?? eg phones, tablets etc??
