Re: BiPAC 8800AXL Installed
Hi
I would be interested in the Bipac 8900AX, I just hope it isn't in the same rather tacky looking white plastic box. Routers often need to be on show out in the open simply to get good Wi-Fi range, and Billion need to pay for a decent designer for their boxes, as the style of the 8800 is not nice and would be hated by her indoors and I don't like it either, and I'm sure the style will have lost countless sales to other boxes that sit better in the living room.
Yes I know function is more important than aesthetics or design, but surely we can have both, especially at Billion prices, and these routers aren't exactly bug free, I'm still waiting for something useful to happen after I've entered in my SMTP server details into the 7800DX! It's suppose to "Push" me things, but it's a pull currently, so Billion don't even get the terminology right. These are premium routers looking like a bit of 1980s white Tupperware. The UI also needs bringing into the 21st century, it wouldn't take much or cost very much to get the CSS/HTML changed to look and operate in a more modern way, for example where is the responsive design so I can use the UI easily on my phone or tablet? I've recommended a couple of 7800DXs to friends and family, and when I've shown them around my own box and the user interface, it invariably puts them off.
Where is the innovation, the style, the something that sets the products apart from all the other boxes?
Regards
Phil

I've still held off on purchasing anything yet. I think I'll just hold on to see what ever gets announced (if ever) from Billion over the next few months. There is certainly no other outstanding devices available in combo form yet anyway.
