Just changed SNR margin to 3
Ookla speedtest is rising then falling. Jumping around a bit I guess

It seems the SNR changes don't have any effect, as I assume you are on a ADSL service and the top speed you can get is 8mbps.
Have you asked your ISP to reset the line profile, to ensure that there is any isn't any '"misaligned virtual path profile" issue

It's done something as I'm getting errors shown. Do you think it's worth setting SNR margin back to -1 and requesting a IP profile reset?

Yep that would be the next steps, also ask if there is a misaligned virtual path profile issue
