have you checked to see if your windows wireless client can see the network (so not using the utility to search for wireless networks)

In win 7 , go to Network and Sharing Center, and click on 'Connect to a network' on the right hand side near the clock/date/time on your windows machine a box will pop up, does your wireless network show in this box???

In my opinion you have need to adjusted setting for your PC to pick up the dongle.Have you checked under 'Device Manager' on your PC to see if the dongle is recognized??
