So for the laptop, a Virtual server on, say, 32401?

No, that does not work! PLEX server page shows
Private 192.168.1.98 < Public My IP:32401

Looking at the 'interface', it is set to ppoe_0_0_101.101/ppp0.1 and cannot be changed. In the Virtual Server summary box I see
PLEX HP 32401 32401 TCP/UDP 32401 32401 192.168.1.98 ppp0.1

I mean the public port screen shot attached, also restart your plex server

Also have you tried to remove the Bridge interface leaving IGMP snooping enabled, and see if that works?? (just a want to make sure the Bridge interface is not conflicting in anyway)

No change. I feel as if I am going round in circles here! I am going to reset UPNP 'enable', delete the static IP for one laptop and see what happens (with no 'bridge', although I don't think the Youview will work without.)

EDIT: Youview has no internet connection, so I will re-bridge.

Is there no-one else on here using PLex on a 8800NL on Windows?

Yeah I thought bridge shouldn't conflict with port forwarding rules.

OK re-enable UPNP, restart the router and see if what happens, I can't see why it won't work if it was working before (I assume you have also ran a port test with canyouseeme to see if the port is open??)

If you still have issues, maybe we can organise a time for a remote access session so I can check out what's wrong, on one of your laptops

I'll setup two plex servers tomorrow, on 8800NL (one wired and one wireless) and post my results, don't worry to much we will get to the bottom of this :D

Well, I guess I should have tested this earlier, but I did not think there would be a problem. The test returns
Error: I could not see your service on 51.9.245.139 on port (32400)

I am stuck on what to do. I run Avast as an av, but with it 'off' the port is still 'closed' Windows Firewall has plex authorised in and out but is off. Where to go now?

I ran a test with one server.

If you use the 'Manually specify public port' the server will show 'Not Available outside your network', if I run a port test the port shows as open on canuseeme (Plex with manual port test canyouseeme.png). So the router is doing its job, (I have setup a port redirect rule, as internal port stays as 32400)

So can you try unticking the 'Manually specify public port' option and retry the test?? (you will have to remove any port forwarding/virtual server rules for device when using UPNP)

Attached is some screen shots of my tests

I very much appreciate your time and effort, B-F.

Here is the story so far:

Upgraded router to 2.32e.d14. Re-started with factory defaults. Only change is DNS from ISP to Google. No bridge and no port forward. Do I need the UPNP forward?

I have 'mimicked' your settings - the PC (Powerplug) is now static on 1.200. UPNP is enabled. I have no Remote Access. Laptop (1.201/wireless) is RA enabled but loses that on a reboot.

A few questions please:
Why do you have a port forward for UPNP? My understanding was that UPNP 'did its own'

I see also that the port forward is 'TCP' and not 'TCP/UDP'

Why the choice of port in the UPNP port forwarding?

Port 32400 still shows 'closed'??

Screen shots if you wish.

Here is what I just do not understand. Everything set (as far as I know) like your example - factory reset, UPNP Forward to PC on 1.200, and this is what I get
Plex.jpg
No sign of 26204? Here is the Virtual server set up (showing two laptops)
Plex2.jpg

From looking at your screen shot, it seems there are two WAN interfaces ppp1.1 and pppoa, which one is your primary internet connection (Status >> WAN, the one listed with a IPv4 address is the primary)

If using UPNP, and not selecting 'Manually Specify public port' you don't need to port forward

If using 'Manually specify public port' then you manually specify the external port you set within the plex server, and internal port will be 32400.

Then you can run a port test, like my test the port was showing open, but the plex server seems to think the port is closed.

The only time I got a consistent RA showing on the plex server, was when using UPNP.

I would advise always checking the port, on canyouseeme just to be sure
