haven't got either of them lit doh, looks like our IT guy hasn't configured it properly either
will try again from scratch and report back - cancelled my 8800NL on Amazon too because of zero stock availability and also on the strength of our IT guy saying it was really easy to do

Normally it is easy to do, the 7800DXL should work like a PC connecting to the HH5, it will obtain a LAN IP address just like a PC. (when configured for a EWAN connection)
If you still have issues, post me a copy of your config file on our esupport system and I will set it up for you (I'll pick up the ticket on Monday

)

I know that it's a bit late for this user, but you can ask the Openreach engineer to swap the HH5 for an Openreach modem. This is what I did yesterday, and it worked straight away with my 7800DXL.

Gave up trying - just installed the 8800NL after re-ordering yesterday Saturday which arrived today Sunday
Install easy peasy - even i could do it !!!
Nice unit - smaller then what i expected, good coverage so far in the house, wireless download speed tests ( 20 feet away from Router in different room ) are around the same as the HH5 - 17-20 mb/s
I expect the download speeds will change depending on time of day
One billion 8800NL working well - hopefully no drop outs on gaming as with the HH, here's hoping
