Hi,
Im using an iMac which I have set to power save the screen only after about 10 mins of no use, Ive not had problems with previous routers with it going into power saving mode and they have always stayed up and running and downloading if i have something downloading irrespective of the screen going into power saving mode. The hard drives and everything else is still powered up but without the screen.
With the 8900ax-1600R2 every time the screen powers down the router cuts the connection, I cant see a way to stop it. Does anyone have any idea how I can keep the router powered up and downloading even though the screen only has powered down, not entering the disabled state.
I am using a wired connection between the router and the computer

Try disabling the power saving option found under Advanced Setup >> Management >> Power Management, disable all options, Apply and test again

How strange I just tested my mac book pro, with a thunderbolt Ethernet connection the 8900AX-1600 R2, I set the screen in the Energy Saver options to turn off after 1 min, after 1 min the screen turned off, ETH 4 (which is the port the MAC is connected) is still flashing away to indicate traffic is still flowing

Once I re-login the google chrome download is still working

I also have unticked the following options under Energy Saver when the battery is in use

Put Hard disks to sleep when possible

Enable power nap while on batter power


Also under Power Adapter option I have following unticked (within Energy Saver)

Prevent Computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off

Put the hard disks to sleep when possible

Enable power nap while plugged into a power adapter

How long does it take for the download to stop on your mac?? (a good indication will be the LAN light on the front of the router, if it stops flashing)
Also what port is your iMac connected to

I have all the same settings as you in energy savings on the iMac as you have. Im plugged into port 1. As soon as the screen goes blank the light stops flashing it stops downloading because the connection from the router to the computer has been cut and it goes into; this setting in the log - kern info kernel: br0: port 1(eth0) entered disabled state

Just going over the setup again, I should of stated that you need to enable the following option

The last setting you mentioned only relates to MacBooks, not desktop iMacs it doesn't show in the energy saving settings for the iMac.

I have tried various things out today and it appears to be my iMac that is the issue, although it is set for only the screen to enter power saving mode the drive/computer also enters a power saving mode. So no issue with the router. Will just have to leave the screen on. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
