I'm probably missing something completely obvious here, but i cannot get port forwarding to work on my new 8800NL. Reading through the forum and searching the web, I have attempted to set up VNC to be allowed to access one specific PC on the network in virtual servers as per attached but it's not working. The port doesn't appear to be open when doing a port scan. I have other ports i wish to port forward as well, but thought this one would be the simplest to test and get going first to understand the process of adding the ports. Any help gratefully received.

are you on a ADSL service??

From looking at the rule you have added, you have setup this up for ADSL PPPoA connection , if your using FTTC/VDSL you need to change the 'Interface' when adding the rule to either PPPoE or IPoE (depending on your ISP setup)

I am on ADSL, that's all we get around here unfortunately.

Your rule looks fine, as long as the Server IP address is correct (with the virtual server rule), VNC is up and working on port 5900, and the PC that is running VNC has the correct gateway address configured you should be fine.

If you have checked all of this and have VNC working locally, check under 'Status >> WAN' to see if your PPPoA connection has obtained a IPv4 address, (just a quick double check to see if you are on ADSL)

Also make sure you don't have any 'Security >> IP Filtering Outgoing/Incoming' rules added.

i did have some ip filtering in place, all have been removed now, and apart from the base connections to actually make ADSL work as a connection, there is nothing else apart from the VNC i am trying to get to work in place now. I've deleted and tried again and nothing. VNC direct to the pc in question from another pc on the network works fine, so i know that bit is working. I get a PPPoA address fine, it is fixed as that's what we've paid for, and if i swap back to my old Draytek router, i can connect fine. Something must be slightly amiss here...

Can you post a screen shot of you WAN >> Status page?? (you can blank out your IP address)

Yeah so everything looks fine.

I'm not sure why your port forwarding rules are not working, I've never seen it not work, except for a configuration issue.

Have you checked the default gateway on your PC that is running VNC to make sure it points to the router??

The default gateway hasn't changed, most of our devices are fixed IP so it would have been too much hassle to change the router IP when i swapped from the old Draytek so reused the same IP. Swap back to Draytek and it all VNCs fine, so that eliminates the PC, VNC and perhaps other restrictions externally. I'm at a loss too as it looks like from what others are saying it should work easily enough. I might flatten the config and try again from scratch and see if i can get it to work as running out of ideas.

That's the best move, reset back to factory default and manually reconfigure.
