Hi anyone had success connecting a Billion router to NordVNP I have had a go but not ever configured a VNP before so struggling quite a bit, I appreciate a lot of the VNP services like you to use an open source router eg an Asus with OpenWrt firmware flashed on it.

The Bipac 8900AX-2400 will support either PPPT or L2TP over IPsec (with the latest firmware)

Attached is some screen shot examples of how to setup L2TP over IPsec with nord VPN.

Well i have tried many times and still just sits there i have confirmed username and password.



Is there another setting that i have missed on another tab like in the L2TP Server tab.

just a update for everyone, Nord VPN does work using L2TP over IPsec, please ensure the Pre-shared Key is correct as shown the screen shots I attached

1. Login to the router
2. Click on 'VPN >> IPsec'
4. Click on 'Add'
5. Tick the option for 'L2TP over IPSec'
6. Enter a 'Connection Name' eg Nord
7. Enter the 'Remote Security Gateway' this will be Nord VPN L2TP over IPsec server address
8. Enter the 'Pre-Shared Key' as 'nordvpn'
9. Click on 'Apply'
10. Click on 'L2TP >> L2TP Client'
11. Enter a 'Name' eg test
12. Enter your Nord VPN user and password, (the one you use to login to nordvpn.com)
13. Tick the 'L2TP over IPSec' option and also make sure the 'IPsec Tunnel' option has your IPsec connection name listed eg Nord (step 6)
14. Enter the 'L2TP Server Address' this will be Nord VPN L2TP over IPsec server address (same address as step 7)
15. Click on 'Add'
16. Tick the 'Default Gateway' option once the tunnel is added
17. Change DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as some ISP's block IP's from different countries (Advanced Setup >> DNS >> DNS >> Use the following Static DNS IP address)

Many thanks billion_fan one strange thing is if you connect to one server and try another i found i have to delete all the settings in both places before it will connect to another server or it fails, strange but true

You must follow these steps (in a nut shell you need to disable the L2TP client and Default Gateway options before editing the server address)

1. Disable the L2TP client and 'Default Gateway' option (tick boxes)
2. Edit the 'IPsec' tunnel and enter your new server address (Remote Security Gateway) and click on 'Apply'
3. Go back to 'LT2P Client' select 'Edit' and change to the new server address (L2TP Server Address) and click on 'Edit/Delete' to apply the change
4. Tick the 'Enable' and 'Default Gateway' tick box

Tested back to back with no3.nordvpn.com and uk51.nordvpn.com working with both

Well it works fine with NordVPN about the same throughput, but the internet LED takes ages to come on after initial boot, this has been the same for several firmware revisions now.

From my test the internet LED comes on once the router picks up a WAN IP (ADSL on Zen)

Other ISP's might vary depending on how the router picks up the WAN IP, as long as the internet LED comes on, I think it should be fine
