No Browser Connection Via Ethernet

I am wanting to access my 7800N to configure it for WDS but am unable to get a connection via direct ethernet connection. In fact, on my iMac, the Ethernet part of the Network section shows Self-Assigned IP, which is often a hardware issue; cables etc.

I have tried all four of the ethernet ports on the router and also three different cables, one brand new.

Could the ethernet port on the iMac be dead, or does anyone have any solutions?

Oh, I have tried renewing the lease in DHCP and setting up a new location in the Advanced tab

Have you tried the following

1. Use the EWAN port
2. Reboot the router
3. Assign a fixed IP address to your LAN card eg IP address - 192.168.1.200, Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway/Router Address - 192.168.1.254

I did what you suggested and got immediate connected showing in the network section, but alas, still not able to even get a login prompt up for the router. Just double check I have done this correct, if you don't mind

Try rebooting the 7800N, and see if you can ping it within terminal

Have you tried a wireless connection to the router??

Just did it then. Not being able to get under the hood, I am unsure if the password is correct, but it didn't reject it. It simple went to the usual Self Assigned IP Address, as in the screen shot, though after No IP Address initially.

I assume there is no need to turn off my existing router. I simply disabled Ethernet and then the Billion SSID showed and I put the password in. Initially it showed No IP Address, then after about 30 seconds, changed to Self Assigned IP Address.

I guess the odd thing is that I have done a few factory resets on it due to not being able to login, yet the default SSID after a factory reset should be wlan-ap with a blank password and mine is still showing my actual SSID from before the reset

You need to perform a hard reset, you will need a paperclip/pin to perform this.

At the back of the device near the power jack is the reset pin hole, (not the button that sticks out) press and hold the reset pin hole for 10 seconds while powered on, all lights should turn off then the power light should blink amber/green, to let you know the device is starting the reset procedure.

ah, can't believe I forgot the hard reset. I just assumed the reset button it had done its job.

Yep, got in straight away via wifi and assume it will also via ethernet
