Feature Request: Emailed Logs

As "Mail Setup" is failing, I don't suppose there is any other way to get logs posted to me?

Other devices (routers and NAS) allow logs to be emailed. Not here apparently.

Hi

The email function for the logs is the typical half finished functionality on this new model. Even if email is working the only way to get the logs is to log into the router and "Push" them to you. Now they call it Push, really it is a Pull. When something is Pushed it arrives or notifies us without us having to trigger it. Not the case here.

Note to Billion: For the email log function to be any use it needs to send automatically by a schedule or have options to send after "x" amount of errors or warnings, or when it is full and about to lose older entries.

I do have the email system working on mine, I can Pull the logs via an email okay, this is using a 1and1 pop server. Of course as I have to have remote access in to do this I'm at the routers web interface so I can just have a look at the logs anyway, so all a bit pointless, a bit like the firewall that can't be used to stop incoming traffic

Regards

Phil

Thanks Phil.
Got the e-mail working now (see other post). I did notice the Push option and thought what's the point - if I'm here to push the button I could just look at the logs!
As you say it really is a Pull.
I agree with how you describe what the e-mail log process should be, this is how it is on other devices. It shouldn't be too hard to implement, they're nearly there - they have scheduling code, the logs and e-mail, just got to join it together! :)
