7800DXL Wireless problems

I've a problem similar to, but not quite the same as, others in the forum.
I have 2.4ghz enabled and 5ghz disabled. I also have a virtual access point enabled with client isolation enabled. I've software version 2.32b. Nothing else has been changed other than the SSID name and security settings.
First thing that happened was my wireless network ceased to be visible. Did all the normal stuff such as turning router and all devices off and on. Assumed it was something I had done, so factory reset the router and reconfigured it, then everything was fine for about 12 hours.
The next thing that happened was the 2.4ghz network LED went out, and the wireless network again became invisible. The configuration menu showed it as being enabled. Clicked on "Apply" and the LED came back on. Still no visibility of the wireless network though.
The wired LAN is still working fine, although I was getting streaming speeds that led to constant pauses on a small video window on BBC iplayer.
I'd expected better of this, relatively expensive router.
Amy ideas anybody ?
Thanks
