SNR Tweaking and BT Dynamic Line Management?

on the 7800DXL is the way the SNR tweak works any better with BT Dynamic Line Management, as on the 7800n it always seemed to change the SNR to get it back to 6 every 10 days or so. ... so if I had an SNR or 6 tweaked it to subtract 3 to give me a SNR or 3 after 10 days or so the BT DLM would increase the SNR to 9, so i would then have to tweak it by subtracting 6, then another 10 days it would go 10 days it would go to 12 so I would have to subtract 9 etc etc.
the conclusion we came to on this forum was that it was the DLM as it was always going back to 6 plus the tweak number subtracted. ... I gave up trying to tweak.
one recommendation was to request the ISP set a hard target of the SNR, but my ISP tell me this is not possible.
If i start tweaking the 7800DXL, am I going to get into the same trouble?
how do other people get around this? Does scheduling a reboot once a week help?
Thanks in advance
