I had enabled PhyR after I'd found out about it via the Spaldwick site, (see full URL in "Set Noise Level") but a Billion tech guy who went through my router settings, following a raised ticket to try and see why I was getting such a large SNR variance when wireless to wired connection, told me that this should only be enabled if told to do so by your ISP and disabled it for me ??

Think it had something to do with keeping the SNRM lower than was probably best - whether he was considering tweaked values or not - don't know, but from experience I've found that very rarely do two techs give the same diagnosis :)

UPDATE
Decided to enable PhyR and tweak back to 3dB and see how it goes.

UPDATE 2
Not very well - had a disconnect and seem to remember it doing that last time I had enabled PhyR.

Have left it on the 3dB prifile and so far so good :)

It's only really of value if you are using IPTV or other fast streaming services. Other than that you probably wouldn't notice much, if any, difference.
