AirPlay Set Up on 7800DXL

Hi,
I bought a Network Hifi (Denon CEOL Piccolo) at the weekend and generally am quite impressed with it but I haven't been able to get the Airplay function working so that I can stream directly from my iPhone.
I am on BT Infinity and have ditched the HH5 in favour of an Huawei HG612 Modem and my trusty 7800DXL using the EWAN port. Other than the Airplay everything is working fine, I can stream FLAC files whilst the kids watch Netflix and play CSS all at the same time.
I understand that I need to enable Multicast,IGMP and have seen some posts talking about setting up a Bridge (whatever that is?). I have tried a few things tonight but there appear to be quite a few related settings and I've not been successful.
Any help greatly appreciate.

I have just tested airpaly here and it seems to work fine with the 7800DXL with default settings. (both devices connected to the 2.4ghz network)
I installed Airplay/DNLA receiever lite (waxrain tech aka airpin) on my samsung note 3 and using airplay played a music file to my samsung note 3 from our iphone 5 ios 7.1.1

Hi, thanks for the quick response, that's interesting.
When I tried with my "default" settings I get silence with the occasion crackle of music trying to break through.
Is your setup using PPPoA or PPPoE, could that be the difference, mine is the latter as fibre forced me to buy a separate modem?
I can't see my router settings at the moment but from memory my "default" doesn't have anything to do with multicast enabled, or Wireless bridging, I seem to remember that IGMG is enabled, not sure what else? Does your default have any of these settings enabled? Anything I can rule out - e.g. it sounds like bridging might be a red herring.
Any suggestions for how I go about debugging this, I'm pretty sure it's router settings that are the issue, I know my iphone works on airplay although I can't absolutely rule out a fault on the Piccolo.

You can try and disable IGMP snooping under LAN, (it was enabled for me) but I have seen some asus routers having airplay issues when IGMP snooping is enabled. ( a quick google check with airplay issues)
I was using PPPOA, (I don't think the WAN is the issue)
Bridging is for BT vision boxes

A side note, also make sure you connect to same network, (if you have guest wifi networks enabled that is)
Also check the firmware on your device (Denon CEOL Piccolo) to see if it needs a airplay update, (not sure if you model needs it)

Hi, thanks for the further information.
I have tried resetting to what I consider basic settings - bridging off, multicast off, IGMP off etc but still cant get the AirPlay to work.
So, a process of elimination. I dug out my old Home Hub 5 and just connected it to the mains - no cables, no internet.
Connected the CEOL Piccolo and My iPhone via wifi and Airplay worked faultlessly - no configuration required at all, took 5 minutes to get it working !!
Connected the DXL up again, restored config to a backup from last week that has none of my recent messing about. Factory reset the Piccolo, rebooted the DXL. Airplay still doesn't work, other than the odd stuttering note or two that gets through occasionally, or interestingly I get a few seconds of play when I hit "apply" on the router to change settings.
So it looks like the issue is with the 7800 DXL, either configuration or a hardware fault - and I agree that its unlikely to be on the PPPoE side as the HH5 worked on wifi only.
I am running software 2.31.RC4.3 and looking at the release notes for the latest releases I can't see anything obvious that would indicate patching will help, but that's my next step. Incidentally I patched the Piccolo on receipt and it is on the latest release.
Other than that I'm not sure where to go next - any thoughts on whether this could be a hardware fault on the DXL?

Problem Solved!!
Installation of 2.32d including a factory reset fixed it, I don't know which aspect but I suspect it was the factory reset. Why oh why didn't I do the patching first, it was the first thing I did on the Piccolo and I really do know better than that
!!

, so glad I got it fixed in the end and your post about having it run ok with defaults helped me ditch all the rubbish I'd read on the internet about multicast etc. Wasn't looking forward to potentially having to use the BT Home Hub 5 when the DXL is so much superior in every way.
