Odd behaviour by 8800nl

I've had my 8800nl hooked up now for well over a month and was happy with the connection and stability until now...

About a week ago my connection dropped and I noticed the 'attainable rate' had dropped from approx. 67/22 to 64/22. No big deal I thought it's probably just the adverse weather at the time. The following week I noticed it had dropped to 58/22, no change in SNRM etc, so I thought I'd do a reboot and see if it went back up. Oddly it went down further to 52/22, still no significant change in SNRM or Interleaving level was recorded.

Last night I plugged in my ZyXel VMG8324-B10 and the attainable rate was back to around 64/22.

Anyone else experienced this lately?

What firmware version are you on??

Try the older DMT code (attached firmware, upgrade and reset back to factory default settings needed)

Could it be down to the driver?

The Billion I believe is 39g and the ZyXel latest driver is 39i.

There's also reports of something unusual going on at cabinet level, possibly to do with vectoring.

I know BT are testing our 8800NL as we speak, but other then that all I have is the two different DMT codes, maybe worth a try to see which one performs better on your line :D

No real difference.

The 8800nl will only synch at 50/22 now whereas my Zyxel is showing 62+/22.

Looks like the 8800nl will have to be shelved for now which is a shame because the Zyxel GUI is quite buggy.

I have recently installed an 8800NL and set about trying to reduce my SNR margin using the suggested values. 4 gave me 10 db, 6 gave me 12db and 1 gave me 7db. This seems to be the opposite effect to that generally described. Am I missing something, apart from my marbles?

It all depends on the default SNR, if the default SNR is 6 then using 1-6 should be fine, but if the default value is not 6 eg 12db then you have to use the table below

Eg your default SNR is 12db you enter the value of 4092 (which equals a -10.5db) so you should end up with a SNR of 1.5db
