improvements to DLNA server

Post by mcoupar »

Hi

I've just bought an 8800NL for use with Plus.Net FTTC and initial impressions are good - especially for the price.

However, one area that could definitely do with improvement is the built in DLNA server. Are there any plans for that on the roadmap?

Specifically,

1> Follow the original directory structure rather than lumping all media files in the root, as this makes navigation very painful. Does anyone have a work-around for this?

2> The ability to import or define your own device profiles. Samsung Smart TVs, in particular, have a problem with media buttons other than Play or Stop that should be resolvable with appropriate profiles.

As it stands, I'll probably have to revert to having an always-on PC running Serviio which is a real shame when I'd like to just have the NAS drive attached directly to the router to act as both a shared drive and a media server.
